A short interpretation of the birth horoscope for this siteA month or so after launching this site its author got the idea of making a horoscope for it. The domain had been up for some time but without any content. I figured the situation to be somewhat reminiscent of a mother's pregnancy, the domain being a "container" (although not of a nourishing kind) out of which living content would one day be delivered. That story is now filed below since the site was taken offline for a few months and then "reborn" using a new domain name. This second time around I checked the timestamp after the front page had been uploaded to the server, meaning the site had come alive. I had made no prior investigations as to "favorable" days or hours but just let the site slide back into place on the web naturally.
Now, calculation of a Yin Yang Horoscope demands the knowledge of gender, so what about a web site? In trying to
engage people in a topic or product it must be of the Yang kind. That is, the site is in the main projecting something,
which is an activity of the light giving Yang.
Remember to extract the underlying motif behind these words and visualize the dynamic real-life situation serving as an analogy. The matter at hand (birth of a web site) is here described in terms of the benefit received from allying oneself with someone or something that offers stability to a troubled district (the Feudal Lord). When things run smoothly there is seldom any need for advice, but as the judgment says, interpreted, troubled times (like those of personal reassessment and growth) may cause an influx of visitors to the site offering guidelines! So far so good - the image of the Feudal Lord is sufficiently similar to that projection of authority and support made by any knowledgeable person or expert in his/her field. The site gives the appearance of "knowing what it is dealing with." Furthermore, line four, the position in most hexagrams of the High Minister, appears to recommend an alliance with an outsider" if not even being an "outsider" itself! The line teaches (among other things) that one should not let color or racial prejudice hinder one. Self-praise is no real recommendation, but being a white European and seemingly far removed from the ancient wisdom of China, the site author was nevertheless amused and somewhat pleased to see the birth symbol of this site rally to his support! This must be considered an okay omen for this type of small venture! :-)
Please read with reservations. With hindsight it is obvious the original birth hexagram admonished the site to "return home," rest a while and gather new strength! As things transpired, In the old text one may see a hint of uncertainty concerning the birth omen but also a tendency to gloss it over! I did take it offline to reconsider my personal ambition after four years with virtually no updates at all. Deciding I did after all care for the subject, I brought it online again with the result described above. According to some files on the web server these pages first became visible 21st of December 2001, the day of Winter Solstice. The site's appearance did not coincide exactly with the solstice but preceded it with a few hours. The local birth time was 17:33. Here is the judgment on the moment in question:
The site's birth horoscope is called Fu, the Returning light, a symbol since ancient times singled out as one of the twelve hexagrams that each corresponds to a Chinese month. It illustrates the rebirth of the Yang power at Winter Solstice at the midpoint of the eleventh Chinese month. The fact that this happened to be the actual time of birth is a pure co-incidence, although an interesting one. At Winter Solstice the life-giving energy is still hidden in the roots of all things but in due time it will expand and rise upwards (replacing the winter-like and cold Yins one by one in the symbol). This hexagram has a long-standing significance of showing the beginnings of self-knowledge which makes its appearance as the birth horoscope for a site dealing with horoscopes all the more interesting. The more you think of it, the more you realize just how suitable the birth hour is to a collection of pages which contents are entirely directed towards the putting fantasies of world dominion aside and instead turning for a while to the quest of attaining to self-knowledge! I am therefore happy to present you with this true and in no way tampered-with finding! :-) If you still suspect all this is hidden self-praise it should be noted that the Yang power is way too high at the birth moment compared to the negative and winter-like Yin. (The Heavenly and Earthly magnitudes are shown when calculating a horoscope - see the link at the bottom of the start page.) The excessive Yang force may indicate something a bit like an impassioned preacher-man confronting an audience incapable of receiving the message! (The Yin principle refers to receptivity, that is, the consumer of the web site content.) In spite of this questionable "omen" I prefer to trust visitors to this site to be possessed with good powers of understanding! (Note. The relative strength of the Yin and the Yang belongs to a set of rules for ascertaining the degree of "auspiciousness" of the birth time. It is shown on the results page when calculating a horoscope.) A person who receives this very horoscope as his or her main pattern should take pride in its characterization, newly coined for the purpose of the astrological service to be launched on the site: "the Individualist." It seems to fit the hexagram very well, especially when compared with the background story of the site, conceived as it is by one person alone as an expression of a life-long interest in what makes people what they are, no less than astrology as a means for finding that out. The visitor to this site cannot possibly know that the mere title of the horoscope, alternatively read as "The Resuming," made the webmaster smile. I actually advertised this type of horoscope locally for some years in the 1990s before getting involved in other business. So this moment of birth actually is no more than a resumption or re-appearance from the point of view of the author. Just a side remark though... The return gradually dawns on one...In sum it appears this site is possessed of a certain individuality, standing out from the rest (of the innumerable pages that deal with the 12 Chinese animals and traditional astrology). It could be characterized as a lively, high-spirited site, perhaps a little to lively to the more negative type of visitor, in spite of an attempt to soften things by using a peaceful green color! The upper trigram shows that the site does not try to show off by purely intellectual exercises, but is pure Yin which denotes practical usefulness. The site certainly represents the re-birth of the Yang power as it endeavors to spread a good thing and once again animate this frozen, lifeless and half-forgotten medieval astrological system! The remaining question concerning the "character" of the site is: why the enormous amount of Yang power possessing everyone born at Winter Solstice 2001? Those involving themselves in a personal horoscope may come to understand why it was so in this case. Yours truly has sometimes been criticized for delivering too much and for sometimes writing in veiled language! But I figure this is wholly in line with a symbolic astrology, which should be treated with openness and sensitivity. These are not clear-cut rules or predictions but suggestions that may sometimes have a spooky ring of truth to them! But be prepared for a reading that only gradually manifests its scope. The horoscope's general judgment may hint at this in its talk about light/friends being seen, not immediately, but only in seven days... I personally think this is the most subtle astrology there is, while at the same time being rather simple due to its focus on the whole person and not, like Western Astrology, immersing itself in a variety of sub-topics (love, career and so forth). If you know what spirit animates you, you should be in a position to accomplish good in all walks of life. I like that viewpoint very much. As for its cryptic symbolism of which you saw an example in the judgment text, don't be disheartened if at first it appears incomprehensible, but take it in the same light spirit as the late great psychologist Carl-Gustav Jung: symbols do stimulate our subconscious minds and set us in motion even if we don't exactly know what they stand for. When backing off the text a little and overviewing the entire chapter of the I Ching belonging to each symbol, a story or pattern may begin to emerge... Reading and re-reading my own symbols during many years has given me entirely new insights from time to time. These Chinese birth patterns really seem to be what Jung called "archetypes," they are not to be taken too literally, but as expressions of some organizing force capable of fulfilling and manifesting itself in numerous ways (we'll not discuss the fact here that Jung's psychology in large part is derived directly from Chinese Philosophy and I Ching).
