What does a Yin Yang Horoscope consist of?
One line from the resulting complex is singled out as the Ruler of the hexagram, giving the final touch as to the "natural tendencies" inherent in that particular moment of birth. Following the "Celebrity Horoscopes" link at the bottom of the start page you will see some of these hexagram structures. The curious thing is that a birth hexagram is neither a picture of the individual nor the family surrounds but something of both! In some cases, where the hexagram indicates a problematic structure, it may be convenient to initially project its meaning on one's childhood circumstances or family, and this astrology has then served its purpose by helping us to see some important formative factor. A deeper analysis, however, will force us to ask whether or not this same symbolism is the one motivating us in our own life. The purpose of the system is to help those with a "negative" birth hexagram so see through a potentially harmful way of approaching life and conversely to assure those with "winning" hexagrams that they are on the right track. There are lots of blessings in disguise in life - even in those "negative" hexagrams - and I have even noted some very "good" symbols to be indicative of qualities not so easily discovered by their owners! The 15th hexagram, "Modesty," has repeatedly come before me in connection with people having difficulty seeing their real and considerable worth! Indeed, this symbol with "a mountain of wealth" pushed down underneath the flat surface of the earth points to resources one may perhaps be unconscious of having, although obvious to an alert outsider! The birth horoscope or hexagram has a time-limited validity, and somewhere between the astrological age of 36 and 54 it transforms into the hexagram of the "later nature." Hexagrams with more "broken" lines (Yin), indicating shorter spans of time, lead to an earlier finding of one's "astrological" maturity but has nothing to do with length of life. I have met persons having survived their last sub-cycle (line) with many years! This site presently does not contain any interpretations of character and/or destiny, and its value mainly consists in offering the free calculator. Students of the I Ching will of course be better equipped to grasp their own birth symbols, but any mildly creative person may be able to think out a few typical scenarios just by using the hexagram's title. One may also attempt a contemplation as to why the birth symbol results in that particular symbol of the "mature" life. Are one seing a positive trend at work, or does the long-term development in fact indicate a regression of some sort? If so, all the more important to try to understand the possible weakness in the birth symbol. Then, after reading up on the eight trigrams and their respective meanings, and understaning the difference between putting one or other in the topmost or lower position, ideas should start appearing! There is no "truth" to be found in this system, unless one agrees that one individual life is the expression of some sort of "essence" or, rather, self-contained subset of principles. It is no use trying to picture a person of flesh and blood in these symbols - they rather represent a "skeleton" upon which a life experience takes form. Also, as the great Philosopher Emmanuel Kant early on insisted, there are no sharp limits to Spirit and its hypostasized (split off) manifestations; all things interpenetrate each other via "windows" and accordingly each birth hexagram carries its unique "ambience" and type of approachability. Some of these "living cells" resonate more readily with the outside world than others, some are more bent on finding their own way. In every case the tendency may be a strength or weakness depending how well one handles the "innate disposition" of the time into which one was born.
